Sands Inn & Suites

I stayed here on a Sunday night. I'll start with the staff, because that makes the difference between a so-so stay and a great one. Thank you for a great stay! The staff was outstanding. Even though Sands is not a 4-Star full-service hotel, there were small touches that made it seem more upscale than a motel. However, all of the staff that I encountered would be an asset to any 4-Star hotel. I didn't have any problems; however, I made a couple of special requests that were accomodated. The staff was friendly and interactive. I was treated like a person and not an inconvenience. The price was very reasonable. I had looked at lots of options in SLO, and based on Google reviews and price, I chose Sands. The location was impossible to beat. The cleanliness of the room and property is top notch. Many of the surfaces in the room are glass. There were no smudges that I saw anywhere. The hotel was within walking distance of my destination. The pool and jacuzzi were perfect. They even offer pool towels at the pool. Please see photos. The breakfast that was served was good. They had a variety of pastries, fruit, breads, cold cereal with milk, yogurt, scrambled eggs, sausage, and waffles. I don't drink coffee, and there were no cold drink options (juice, milk, etc.) other than water. My room was clean and comfortable. An interesting touch in the bathroom was facial cleansing wipes. When I checked in that afternoon, the air conditioner in my room had been turned on, and the room was delightfully cool. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here with two little kids just for one night, during winter. This place was good, better than most of the reviews...but not great. Room was clean and had been recently renovated, but you could it was missing attention to detail. For example, there wasn't enough weather stripping under the front door, which meant the room was draft and cold all night. Or another example, someone left a sandwich in the fridge, lol. The service was good and quick. All the appliances worked, it was quiet, and the beds were passable for a 1 night stay.

Since the room we booked was not available when we arrived, we were upgraded at no extra cost. That's great service! Our room was immaculate with so many top-notch conveniences. The breakfast buffet included selections for a delicious, full meal, all neatly arranged and easy to serve. The look and layout of the buildings, pool and amenities were very appealing.

A pleasant surprise. Based on the reviews, I was hesitant to book this hotel. I had another reservation at another hotel as a backup, just in case. Fortunately, the room was nice, and construction was over. Like other reviews, I agree the staff is very friendly. Shout out to Scott! The housekeeping needs to look at the fine details when cleaning. Like all the doorknobs and the sheets on the fold out couch. Other than that, the room was clean. It was quiet at night. The shower had a cool rain head that lights up. Green means the temperature is good. Red means it may be too hot. I attached a video. We had some hot breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs and sausages and make your own waffles. We were there for Cal Poly admits weekend. You can walk to the campus from the Sands Inn if you want to. We had to leave a day early instead of 3 nights we stayed for 2. The front desk woman (forgot her name) was able to refund the one night we couldn't stay, which was very nice and motivates me to stay there again. A note to the management, update the toll-free phone number in the reservation email, and add the check-in/ check out times to that same email and website. 3pm /11am. Oh next upgrade is to replace the TV in the bedroom, too small and old. Thanks, see you again in a few months.

I don't know why there are so many low reviews for this place. I guess people don't like : Clean rooms, lower than normal pricing, FREE BREAKFAST, friendly staff, large parking lot, access to town, makeup wipes, fitness room, suites, pool and Jacuzzi. I love the new renovated rooms, we have stayed here multiple times for days on end and have had only one bad experience, which wasn't the fault of ours or the hotels, it was the builder and we ended up getting comped for the room, so only 5 stars from me.

Room is beautiful. Shower was amazing. Great continent breakfast included, as they had a lot of great options. Staff is sweet, kind, patient, and easy to talk to. I appreciate their warm personality. The swimming pool is nice. Love how the view to the pool is limited. So I felt less self conscious swimming there. My son & I liked staying there so much, we scheduled our monthly stays in the area multiple months out.

We went with our dog and had a great stay. Free breakfast was good too. Reccomend !
